Most of the digimon series have large, extremely well-developed casts; digimon's characterization is arguably its strongest point. Choosing just one, then, is extremely difficult.
I don't even remember why I originally liked him so much, other than him having an awesome digimon partner. Yes, he started as an annoying crybaby. But he grows. He becomes strong. He experiences trauma and grows stronger for it, even if he holds his share of grudges. He's willing to kill when necessary, but only to stop others from being harmed, and he's extremely determined to save both the digital world and the human world. He goes through all of two series, and when it's over, he tells the story of them both to the rest of us; that's the ONLY part of 02's ending I can stand.
(And it doesn't hurt that I've ficced a lot for him either.)
...I love Oikawa. I love Masaru. I love Leomon and Ken and Koushiro and Sora and more characters than I can count. But Takeru Takaishi, pictured in the icon for this post, has to by my favorie.
